I had the below copy published in the national print magazine, along with my name, as part of a leading feature on influential gay women:

Heather Peace

A multi-talented singer-songwriter and actress, Heather is also something of a lesbian activist, speaking out on visibility issues and working with groups like Manchester Pride, Diversity Role Models and Stonewall’s It Gets Better Campaign. She was the only out cast member of BBC3’s Glasgow-based lesbian drama Lip Service, plays head of English Nicki Boston in Waterloo Road, and is the only woman to have appeared on the front cover of DIVA twice in six months. Her solo album Fairytales is out now.

Amy Lame

Originally from New Jersey, writer, presenter, producer and performer Amy Lame has been a Londoner for 20 years. Best known for her one-woman shows, her Oliver Award-winning performance group Duckie, and LGBT-themed work in the media, Amy presented the BBC2 show GaytimeTV in the 90s and was a mentor for LGB teenagers on Channel 4’s My Big Gay Prom. A frequent Stonewall Equality Dinner host, Amy also famously celebrated her hen-night at Downing Street.

Lucy Spraggan

The 21-year-old singer wowed us on The X Factor 2012 with her original audition of Last Night (Beer Hear), and her performance of Kanye’s Gold Digger and David Guetta’s Titanium on the live shows. The Sheffield-born artist has been openly gay since she was 14, and was the most Googled music artist in the UK last year. Lucy plans to release her second album in March, following her Top Room at the Zoo album, independently released in 2011.

Jane Hill

BBC news presenter Jane found herself the subject of headlines after coming out in the Beeb’s in-house magazine but says her sexuality was never a secret. During her broadcasting career she has covered some of the biggest stories in recent history including the election of President Obama, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She and her partner are planning their civil partnership later this year.
